The Article tells an interesting story of the Author’s first encounter with FTP or File Transfer Protocol.  He explains that he was an avid video game collector and wanted a game that he could not reach physically, and did not want to wait for the mail.  So the person that he was arranging to get the game from suggested that he downloaded it off his server. The article develops in the evolution of the FTP and the login protocol of users requiring information from the server or updating the servers information. Its a good read if you are interesting in how a browser connects with a server to retrieve data.

January 30, 2008

Chapter 1 gave a basic overview of the new features of Dreamweaver CS3. It boasts that the software can create a page in .xhtml without the need for the user do any coding or tagging.  It explains the transition from .html to .xhtml, and explains that the languages are similar. It shows the proper way to name files to run on servers effectively. It states that the new software does not require the user to know .xhtml. However it is preferable to have a background and understanding of how to code in .xhtml

Chapter 2 starts with an tour of some of the features used in Dreamwear CS.  It demonstrates different items on the tool bar. How to select a default browser. How to save work that you have started, and the shortcut keys to the different actions.  By the looks of it the software is pretty adaptable to the needs of the user. Some of the features of identifying the the source code and the design view seem to be used for fixing errors in a page.
